my friends and i were having a huge debate on how to decifer when a guy is asking a girl out on a date...

notion: when a guy asks you out for a movie, is it a date or is it not?

the answer:

it depends on how the question is being asked...

A) DO YOU WANT TO WATCH ICE AGE WITH ME?
B) dO YOU WANNA WATCH A MOVIE?
C) DO YOU WANNA HANG OUT? LIKE WATCH A MOVIE OR SOMETHING?

for senarios A, you are looking at a purely platonic friendly outing...
a guy will NEVER decided the movie on any date, its alwayd left up to the girls...
so if he has already decided on the movie...
its the movie that he wants...
not you...
you're relatively replacable...

for senarios B, you are looking at a guy who MIGHT be interested in you but do not want to make it official just yet...
basically he is asking to watch ANY movie with you...
so YOU are the person he wants to watch with...
not any tom/dick or hairy...
therefore you have to depend on other factors of the date such as the place you eat at and the things you talk about during th outing...
if most of the places you guys go to involve him asking YOU to deciede or how all the conversations centre about getting personal details of you...
