have discovered the wonders of yahoo's ask a question...
realizing that i've never roasted a turkey my whole life...
decided that should consult experienced international turkey roastes...
on the internet of course...
so posted a question on yahoo asking on the simplest recipe for a christmas turkey...
had a whopping 30 replies, 30 recipes, 30 heart wrenching decision...
so decided to base decision on a follow up question...
"can anyone cook the damn turkey for me?"
preperation for my very first yuletide pre-christmas eve dinner started at 1300 hrs...
think think think...
what did that episode of jaime oliver say about roasting a bloody turkey...
whack it here, whack it there, whack it in the oven, then whack it on a serving dish then... PUKKER!!!
craaaapp...
how the fuck does jamie and nigella cook with so much ease and pazzazz...
i bet they have 10 nigerian slaves working behind in a secret kitchen...
between trying not to piss my maid off...
and trying not to screw up the whole bloody dinner...
i was actually having fun...
woke up the previous night at around 3am to lug my lazy arse down to the kitchen just to marinate the turkey...
only to find the 3 kg turkey absolutely frozen like a turkey popsticle...
opened a whole can of honey...
smotthered the whole turkey with honey with my bare hands...
going to bed feeling slightly accomplished with the fact that i was smart enough to let the turker marinate overnight...
so before i was about to plop the whole turkey into the oven to start my jaime oliveresque styled no muss no fuss roasted holiday turkey...
my maid asked...
"did you even wash the turkey???"
motheeerrrrrrr phuccccccccccccccccc!!!
since when you need to wash the damn turkey...
jamie didn't!!!
its supposed to be no muss no fuss damnit!!!
anyway...
cooked from 1pm till 8pm...
two words...
NEVER... AGAIN!!!
after the whole cookout...
all i wanted to do was to crack open a bottle of red and drink my gourmet arse to sleep...
because this piece of arse ain't gonna cook... ever...
or at least untill the next christmas...
menu for the night was...
Papadum with Mango and Shrimp Salsa Dip...
Spiced Pumkin Soup with Toasted Almonds...
Onion Pita Bread with Hummus
Roasted Honey Glaced Turkey...
Roasted Seasonal Vegetables...
Creamy Seafood Risotto...
Cherry Crumble Pie...
Chocolate Truffle Tart...
