post-its, smuck-its...

one of my close friends had a freakout session recently...
relationship not going anywhere, boyfriend refuses to miss her, heading towards her marragable age and most likely missing it and basically all that jazz...
it got me thinking about relationship...
not the hollywood kind, but the ones without good lighting, soundtrack and makeup...

in a relationship, is it right not to miss the other when one's away?
is there some golden rule binding one's emotion to the other just because of miles?
if there is, i wish people should all know about it...
why do you want to make the person feel bad so that you can feel good about yourself?

there is no me in relationships, there's only us...
but sometimes you need to be selfish so that you get a little more...
why bother forcing out an emotion from the other when really, there's none...
does that mean the relationship's not going to work out?

we tell lies so that we can make others feel better...
we lie to ourself to make us sleep at night...
so my point is...
there is no such thing as honesty in relationships is there?

what i cannot understand is how some people set checkpoints in life...
get married by 24, have a kid by 26, quit my job at 35, get a new husband by 40...
these checkpoints are like post-its from hell...
little pieces of yellow paper with tasks we know we'll never get to...

so my friend...

are we going to wait till the sticky side of the post-its looses it's grip and fall off eventually?
take the post-its out and rip em' up to shreads?
never write on a post-it ever again?
or just never ever buy or go near anything that resembles a post-it?

who created these damn suckers anyway?
and why doesn't mine ever seem to wanna stick...
